Included in our LA makeup school’s Professional Course is a chance to build our students’ portfolio so that they have images ready as soon as they graduate and receive their certification.
One of the biggest challenges for most makeup artists is finding a way to showcase their work other than posting before and after photos on their Instagram or Facebook page. The most important thing that all makeup artists need is a portfolio. Yes, clients may look at other factors like experience or credentials, but before any of that, they need to see your portfolio. At Chic Studios, we know how important it is to have the best portfolio possible when embarking on an amazing career in makeup artistry!
During our add-on week, students are given the choice to take focused courses in Fashion Runway and TV + Music Video makeup. In these classes, they can recreate some of their favorite looks from iconic movies like Black Swan or Avatar, but also recreate some of their favorite looks from editorial shoots and off the runway. It’s a great way for our students to step out of their comfort zone and learn more about how to work in the industry which is a huge phenomenon in Los Angeles. After their week long class, it’s time for their portfolio photoshoot.
Included in our photoshoot:
- 3-4 hours granted in our studio
- On-set etiquette training
- Opportunity to work closely with our photographers
- Receive one-on-one attention and critiques from our experienced professional instructors
- 2 Photoshoots
- Gallery of 10+ images
- Work experience with models
- On-site pro hairstylist for models
Each student is randomly given one of the following looks for their photoshoot: focus techniques, day makeup, evening makeup, traditional bride, global bride, heavy glam, and natural beauty. Our instructors then assign the students a model that they might have never met before and be able to treat them as their client for the day.
Our LA school’s Professional Makeup program will give you the opportunity to work with our highly experienced instructors who will guide you on how exactly you should build your portfolio. You will not only receive the one-on-one attention but also, training on how to work on set for photoshoots using face charts, mood boards and much more.
