Amy’s legacy for the Chic Studios brand was created out of a desire to develop a school that offered professional training, resources and the tools necessary to help makeup artists launch into a successful career. Amy began her career in Canada, refining her knowledge and trade-skills, arriving at advance principles in makeup artistry techniques.
Amy has been a valuable expert for leading beauty events in New York City, Los Angeles, and Canada working with top models and celebrities (Irina Shayk, Julie Henderson, Jessica White and Jill Zarin to name a few). Additionally, Amy has lent her expertise to broadcast realms and multiple designer fashion shows and events to include LA Street Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, BeautyCon and Brooklyn Fashion Week. Amy is an active member of her community and a board member of the Boys and Girls Club Malibu.
2009
Move to New York from Los Angeles, where Amy was working as a celebrity and private client makeup artist. During the move to NYC, the conversation Amy was having about her career was ‘do I want to start all over again with building a client list… or do I want to focus on a business of sharing the information learned over the years…Chic Studios School of Makeup began.
2009
January, coffee with a friend (celebrity hairstylist/salon owner in NYC) offering to hire Amy as a freelance makeup artist, but didn’t hold back to ask the question about the possibility of that job being a passion. ‘You don’t really want to do that, do you? Focus on what you want to DO, and just do that!’ ’
2009 (January-March)
With her husband’s support and rave reviews about focusing on Amy’s passion, Chic Studios School of Makeup started!
2009 (April)
Amy had an idea to offer her previous assistant the opportunity to take the makeup course, free of charge in exchange for helping her market the course in NYC and also for valuable feedback to improve any glitches. The month-long course was off to a great start.
2009 (May)
Official: In May 2009 was the first Chic Studios makeup class in Brooklyn, NY (with only 3 students) second class (only 2 students) third class (4 students **which was the max with this space) and for the rest of 2009 classes were full.
2010 (January)
Chic Studios had full classes from June- December 2009, so the next business decision was moving into a larger more suitable space for a classroom and events.
2012
After a few years of mastering the courses, the curriculum, training staff, perfecting events, the decision was to license Chic Studios NYC with the New York State Education Department.
2012
Chic Studios relocated from Brooklyn to Manhattan (current space) offering 2 classrooms, 1500 square feet, content studio, event space, kitchenette, office and student area.
2016
Growing the business takes Chic Studios to open a new space in Los Angeles, Santa Monica (2 years) then moves Downtown LA. This space was host to many beauty events, a classroom and content studio.
2017
All locations: Officially launching a Content Studio and Chic pro Lab (students access to free space for content) providing career services and career guidance and monthly hiring fairs with Sephora.
2018
New: Launched first official ‘pop up’ location, Chic Studios Denver, in Downtown Denver, next to the Maven Hotel.

About Chic Studios NYC
Chic Studios NYC is a leading makeup artistry school located in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district. Unlike a cosmetology program, we provide an array of fashion-forward techniques and practices through course instruction, professional training and a modern curriculum in our Professional Program. Courses are designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced artists. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Diploma and have the opportunity to participate in a professional photoshoot to begin their portfolios. With access to New York Fashion Week, countless productions in television and film, and magazine publishers abroad, our NYC location offers the most comprehensible options for artists looking to begin or enhance their careers.
Chic Studios New York (NYC) is a Professional Makeup Artistry School, located in the heart of Manhattan’s Financial District. With qualified, experienced and influential instructors, our students are ready for the world after partaking in our Professional and Master courses. Like our LA makeup school, we offer the same courses at our New York location: Basic Makeup 101, Beauty Makeup, and Bridal. At our NYC makeup school, we’ve included a course called Hairstyling for Makeup so our students can become more well-rounded in their field. We have a range of basic and advanced courses available depending on the student’s skill level. For advanced students, we offer them the courses: Focus Techniques, Fashion + Runway, TV + Music Video, and Bridal Makeup + Business.
