With the inauguration of spring, we’re turning to the red carpet for spring beauty trends that we’ll be teaching at our makeup school in Los Angeles! These celebrities wowed the crowd during their red carpet appearances in 2018 and we can’t wait to recreate them during rotations as part of our Professional Makeup Course. Every month at our makeup school in LA, we tell each new student enrolled to turn to their favorite makeup artists and celebrities for inspiration. The following beauty looks are examples of how our students can test their skills as well as show off their creativity!
If smokey eyes and cat eyes had a baby, this look would be it! Renowned celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta kept the edges of Bella Hadid’s wings sharp as a blade but buffed out the top part to smoke it up towards her temples. If you thought the smokey eye was edgy– you need to try this look out! Remember to always pair an intense eye look with a blindingly bright highlighter, peachy nude blush, and lipstick. Keep everything neutral so that all the attention is focused on the eyes. You’re ready to slay for the night out!
Sunset eye makeup isn’t just for Instagram. Makeup artist Sergio Lopez-Rivera transformed Viola Davis’s lids into a gorgeous ombré of colors with M.A.C.’s Pigments in Pink Bronze, Mega Rich, and Melon. With a look like this, blending is key! Make sure to pat on the color first onto the lid and then blend to fade away any visible lines. You want everything to melt together like a true sunset.
Instead of pulling out a classic black liquid liner from her kit, makeup artist Pati Dubroff etched Margot Robbie’s lids with white for the UK premiere of I, Tonya. Such an interesting take on a classic look, but it definitely makes Margot’s eyes pop! Dubroff kept the rest of the actress’s makeup glowy and fresh with highlighted cheekbones, petal pink blush, and pink-toned nude lipstick.
Monochromatic Winged Shadow
For a Golden Globes afterparty, Emily Ratajkowski added some color to her little black dress with fluorescent pink eyeshadow. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo brushed a shadow from the Marc Jacobs Beauty Scandalust Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette all over the actress’s lids before sweeping some upward toward the tails of her brows in a winged shape. He also topped her lips with nude lipstick to balance her minimalist look.
Double Flicked Cat Eyes
We just cannot get enough of a great winged liner. Makeup artist Allan Avendaño didn’t stop at one flick on each of Camila Cabello’s lids when she attended the iHeart Radio Music Awards. With the L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Liquid Liner in Carbon Black, he added a second wing directly underneath for a double-decker cat eye.
