Social media has become a prevalent force when it comes to learning and wanting to teach yourself new skills. With the growing success of Youtube, not only could people learn how to cook, fix a flat tire, but they were also given an outlet to learn about makeup. Through videos, viewers could learn how to wing their eyeliner, create a cut crease, contour and highlight like a pro, and so much more. Even though you can teach yourself anything you’d like, nothing beats hands-on experience. When it comes to makeup, furthering your education goes beyond learning how to put makeup on your own face. Chic Studios, an NYC makeup school, was created in 2009, so people with various levels of skills, could learn how to become a professional in a month’s time.
Chic Studios New York (NYC) is a Professional Makeup Artistry School, licensed by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and located in the heart of Manhattan’s Financial District. With qualified, experienced and influential instructors, our students are ready for the world after enrolling in our Professional and Master courses. Like our LA makeup school, we offer the same courses at our New York location: Basic Makeup 101, Beauty Makeup, and Bridal. At our NYC makeup school, we’ve included a course called Hairstyling for Makeup so our students can become more well-rounded in their field. We have a range of basic and advanced courses available depending on the student’s skill level. For advanced students, we offer them the courses: Focus Techniques, Fashion + Runway, TV + Music Video, and Bridal Makeup + Business.
An aftercare program, the Chic Pro Community, is provided post-graduation offering hiring fairs, job postings, networking opportunities and events in the industry. Our graduates not only get a chance to partake in various events year around the city but receive the opportunity to work as artists for New York Fashion Week as well. We invite our graduates to use our on-site Makeup Lab which is a complementary workspace fully equipped with lighting, makeup stations, color walls, chairs, and wifi. Graduates are welcome to use this space for various purposes; shooting a short video, creating content for their portfolio, prepping their makeup kits before a gig, making up their models before a photo shoot, or logging onto their laptop and edit their social media.
We also love opening our community up to the public as well. We offer events like makeup workshops twice a month, that are free and open to the public. You don’t have to be a professional makeup artist to attend. These events are for those people who are beauty enthusiasts, aspiring artists, and our professional friends as well. These are also great for potential students as they get insight on how our classes are taught, what our studio looks like, and meet our amazing staff and instructors. We offer live makeup demos, complimentary makeup gifts, raffle prizes, and sips and snacks.
