1. Job Opportunities

People are flocking to Colorado to get married! The gorgeous and rustic scenery makes for great photos. In 2015 alone, Denver doled out a record-setting 7,339 registrations, and 2016 set a tenth-straight record high, according to Denver’s Office of the Clerk and Recorder. Fueled by the city’s rapid population growth, this steady increase has had demonstrable effects on the local wedding industry. Great news for makeup artists! With such a growing bridal community, it’s easier to find jobs for aspiring and established makeup artists.

2. Parks and Recreation

Did you know? Denver offers every kind of free park option: dog parks, skate parks, bike parts, walking parks, and above all, Red Rocks! Denver’s backyard teams with outdoor adventures. In the winter, nearby resorts like Winter Park, Loveland, and Arapahoe Basin offer powdery ski slopes. When it’s summer, Colorado’s mountainous terrain melts into prime hiking trails. With all these gorgeous and free parks, they make the perfect background for outdoor photoshoots. In order to complement the breath-taking scenery, an amazing makeup artist has to be involved to make the models/bridal parties look fantastic.

3. Perfect Weather

Denver enjoys 300 days of sunshine! Contrary to popular belief, though Denver has snowy winters, the city sees sunny skies 70% of the time according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which ranks the annual percentage of possible sunshine for cities in the US and Puerto Rico. Great weather, amazing scenery, and barely any air pollution? All makeup artists need to book their plane tickets to Denver, stat!

4. Up and Coming City

Move over LA and NYC, Denver is one of the fastest growing cities! In fact, it is America’s eighth-best city for job seekers. When figuring out our latest makeup school location, we took this into account. At Chic Studios, we pride ourselves on being a fashion-forward school and Denver seemed like the perfect choice. LoDo, where our new makeup school location will be, is considered the oldest neighboorhood as well as the home to Colorado’s Arts District. We’re excited to be surrounded by the daily inspiration from the decor of our studio as well as the commute from Union Station.

5. Cost of Living Won’t Break Your Bank

Many people categorize Denver with places like New York City, Los Angeles, and other expensive cities. However, the cost of living is only about 10 percent above the national average. This is absolutely perfect for the many international students interested in wanting to attend Chic Studios. They’ll be able to find a great place to call “home” for the next four weeks. It’s also great for many aspiring makeup artists we know who are trying to break out of the New York and Los Angeles bubbles as well. Having a fresh start in the beautiful (and inexpensive!) city of Denver sounds like a great choice.

6. Arts, Food and Culture

Denver is more than just outdoor recreational activities. The city is full of performing arts venues, museums, and art galleries. There is a huge culture and art scene here! Along with that, Denver’s restaurant scene is booming. More than 400 new spots opened in 2015 alone, including an influx of Asian flavors and numerous quality barbecue joints. Craft breweries continue to pop up all over Denver as well. The flood of new spots helped Colorado’s craft beer industry add $1.15 billion to the state’s economy in 2014. The state ranks third in the nation for the number of breweries with nearly 300 in operation.
